Srinagar, February 06 (KNO): In a major security concern for the forces, the residents of Poonch district of Jammu are getting signals from Pakistan based mobile companies on their mobile phones, eye-witnesses said. They said that despite repeated protests by army and police, mobile phones of being operated by the locals of Poonch district often get strong signals of Pakistan network, raising a security concern. An eye-witness said that Pakistan has increased the mobile phone signal of various companies providing mobile services in Pakistan covering about 2 to 3 kilometres area on Indian side especially the areas of Poonch district closer to the LoC. “One can easily find strong mobile signals of Pakistan based mobile phone service providers i.e. Zong, Jazz, Telinor PK etc in Poonch villages that include Dharati, Pangni, Sochala and Behroti that fall in block Balakot and in Mankote Ghani and Balnoi Kashti,” said a witness. The signals of these Pak based mobile companies in Indian territory are so strong that in some areas especially in Balnoi Kashti they automatically change the time zone setting of mobile handset from India to Pakistan once they detect it. The presence of Pakistani mobile phone signals in Poonch is posing a serious threat to security. An Army official told KNO that they have time and again protested the act and will once again lodge a strong protest with the Pakistan army. “We will hold a flag meeting over the issue soon as it can’t be taken for-granted,” an army officer said wishing not to be named.(KNO)
